Traditional Catholic Pilgrimage to Bavaria & Austria

Featuring a two-day, 35 mile pilgrimage to Our Lady of Altötting Shrine

September 11-15, 2025

This pilgrimage is for traditional Catholics over 21 who are physically able to walk 35 miles over two days!

Wednesday, September 10 – TRAVEL DAY

International flights from outside of Europe depart

OPTIONAL – Arrive in Munich on Wednesday by 3pm and receive transportation to Salzburg late in the afternoon and hotel stay in Salzburg Wednesday night at Hotel Drei Kreuz near Old Town. (Add $125 to registration cost.)

 



 

Thursday, September 11 - SALZBURG

We will be joined by Kevin Davis of the Catholic Family podcast and our German friends Marcel Hampf, Martin Heyne, and Jonny Kohler.

Morning: International pilgrims arrival at Salzburg airpot. To guarantee airport pickup flight must arrive between 7am and 11am.

Afternoon and Evening: Sightsee major attractions in Salzburg. 

Stay Overnight in Salzburg at Hotel Drei Kreuz (12pm check-in) near Old Town

 

 


 

Friday, September 12 – FIRST DAY OF PILGRIMAGE WALK - TRAUNSTEIN

We will join our Catholic friends in Germany, who are organizing this pilgrimage for the fourth consecutive year.  This website for the Altotting pilgrimage provides more specific details.

There will be 15-20 miles of walking each day on the pilgrimage. There will be a shuttle that can pick up those struggling with the walk each day, but this will have limited space and it will still require those being picked up to walk at least 6-9 miles each day. Please consider this before registering!

Early morning - Drive from Salzburg to Traunstein

10am -Pilgrimage walk begins in Traunstein

Stay at host farmhouse roughly halfway on pilgrimage overnight. 


 

Saturday, September 13 – SECOND DAY of PILGRIMAGE WALK and ALTÖTTING

Early Morning Mass at farmhouse 

All Day – Pilgrimage walk to Altötting Marian Shrine

6pm – finish pilgrimage walk (at latest) at Altötting

Stay Overnight in Altötting at Hotel Stadthaus Valentin (next to shrine)

 

Sunday, September 14 - MUNICH

Drive to Mass

9:30am – Mass near Munich at Fr. Heyne’s chapel (CMRI)

Brunch after Mass with all pilgrims

Afternoon and Evening – Sightsee major attractions in Munich

Stay Overnight at Augusten Hotel (2pm check-in) near main train station

 

Monday, September 15 – TRAVEL HOME FROM MUNICH

We will provide transportation to the airport in the morning.

 

PILGRIMAGE COST: $450 for 4 nights lodging, transportation, and airport shuttle service

($575 if flying in earlier on Wednesday and staying Wednesday night in Salzburg)

Includes double occupancy overnight hotel accommodations for Thursday (Salzburg), Friday (farmhouse on pilgrimage route), Saturday (Altötting), and Sunday (Munich). All transportation from place to place, including Salzburg to the beginning of pilgrimage, Altötting to chapel for Sunday Mass, and from chapel to Munich hotel. Includes walking tours of Salzburg and Munich. Includes airport transportation as long as you arrange flights in windows specified in itinerary. Cost does not include meals, which you will need to pay on your own.

For those in Europe who wish to travel to pilgrimage by train: Our hotels in Salzburg and Munich are a very short walk from the main train stations, so this is a very manageable option.

DUE TO LODGING, TRANSPORTATION, AND LOGISTICAL CONSIDERATIONS, THIS PILGRIMAGE PACKAGE IS LIMITED TO 10 PEOPLE! ONLY THOSE WHO REGISTER AND PAY PILGRIMAGE FEE WILL HAVE SPOT RESERVED!

Terrence McKeegan is an attorney by profession who has organized dozens of events in the US,

and in many countries including China, Russia, the Philippines, Ireland, Germany, Austria,

Italy, England, France, Switzerland, Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Hungary, Mexico,

Belize, and East Timor. He is also the primary organizer of the Rocky Mountain Trad gathering.

The refund policy for the registration fee for the pilgrimage package is as follows:

  1. Cancel before June 30: Receive a full refund
  2. If you cancel after June 30 but before August 1, we will do everything to fill your slot, and if we fill your slot you will receive a full refund.
  3. If you cancel after August 1, there will be no refund. However, you would be allowed to find an accepted pilgrim in your place to take your slot.
